General information about BLADE
The BLADE is a countertop draught dispenser that provides freshly tapped beer. The machine plugs into a regular power outlet and requires no external CO2 or complex setup. The BLADE uses 8L kegs of beer, which is roughly 14 pints. Our selection of BLADE kegs can be found here.
Including the drip tray, BLADE measures 590 x 290 x 471 mm (h x w x d). It weighs 17.6 kg on its own, and around 26 kg with a full keg installed.
The BLADE machine uses about 0.8 kWh per day—similar to running a 35W light bulb continuously. The BLADE will make a noise when it's cooling and may emit a low hum - like a regular fridge.
The BLADE comes with a 2-metre power cable, a dome, drip tray and tap handle. If you want, you can purchase a Starter Pack, which comes with an 8L BLADE keg for your first BLADE experience.
The user manual for the BLADE can be found here.

Setting up your BLADE machine couldn't be easier! Just plug it into the wall, install your first keg and pour the perfect pint. There are clear instructions on the keg box, or you can watch some setup videos.
Start by following the instructions on the keg box, or watch our setup videos here. Make sure the black and orange parts of the nozzle aren’t touching before installation—this keeps the beer from flowing unintentionally. Always double-check the nozzle before inserting a keg to avoid spills. If you're having a problem with your machine, please don't try more than 2 different kegs as a test. If there is a problem with your keg, please do not dispose of it, in case we need to investigate further.
For best results, chill the keg in your fridge for at least 16 hours. If it’s at 4°C when you load it into the BLADE, you’ll be able to serve great beer right away.
It takes a bit of practice to get the perfect pour with a BLADE machine. Here are a few tips and tricks to get you started:
• Chill the keg for 16-24 hours before loaded. Once loaded make sure the dial turns blue, meaning beer is ~3°C.
• Make sure the glass you use it clean - rinse with lukewarm water using a BLADE Glass Brush—no soap or dishwasher.
• Tilt the glass to a 45° angle under the tap (don’t let tap touch glass or beer).
• Open the tap fully. Straighten glass as it fills. Skim foam to 2cm for the perfect head. For more details, or a video to get you going, see this page.
Only when a keg is installed. If your BLADE is empty, it’s fine to unplug it.
Don't worry - that's the noise of the fan at the back of the BLADE which keeps the keg cool.
You’ll hear the air pump working to regulate pressure while pouring. It’ll stop shortly after you finish.
Condensation is perfectly normal. Just make sure to wipe it down regularly to avoid any long-term damage, as corrosion from condensation isn’t covered by the warranty.
Take a look at the temperature gauge - the optimum drinking temperature is when the pointer of the temperature gauge is at the bottom of the scale. Only use pre-cooled kegs at a temperature of 3-4 ⁰C.
You can remove an open keg from your BLADE machine, but it should not be used again. To keep your beer fresh and at the right pressure, always store an open keg inside the machine.
No, BLADE kegs are specially designed for the machine and need the controlled pressure the machine provides.
No, BLADE kegs are made exclusively for use with BLADE machine.
Set it up on a level, sturdy surface that’s resistant to heat and water. Keep it near a power outlet for easy unplugging if needed. For best performance, use it in a space between 10°C and 38°C with humidity no higher than 75%. It's best to keep your BLADE machine out of direct sunlight, as it can have an effect on the cooling process.
BLADE Cleaning & Maintenance
Always unplug the machine first. Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior, and a dry cloth for the cooling chamber. Never submerge it or use harsh cleaning products. The drip tray should be washed with warm soapy water after each use, and we recommend cleaning the tap every time you change the keg.
If it’s time to part ways, you can find recycling points in the UK at Recycle Your Electricals or Recycle Now. Recycling helps recover valuable materials and reduces waste.

BLADE Kegs & Beer Storage
A BLADE keg is an 8-litre beer keg made specifically for the BLADE system.
Each BLADE keg measures 20.5 x 36.91cm and weighs about 8.3kg.
A BLADE keg holds 8 litres or just over 14 UK pints.
Unopened kegs stay fresh for at least a month after purchase. Once opened and kept in a running BLADE, your beer will stay fresh for up to 30 days. Always check the best-before date on the side of the keg, and store unused kegs in a cool, dry place.
Kegs marked with a sale price have a shorter shelf life—just 8 days from the date of purchase. This will be clearly stated at checkout. If you're buying for a future occasion, we recommend choosing full-price stock.
Keep them in a cool, dark place, ideally below 20°C. This helps preserve carbonation and prevents off-flavours, keeping your beer tasting fresh and crisp.
They are mostly made of PET plastic. Check your local guidelines for more information.
No—please don’t. Freezing can damage the packaging and lead to leaks. In some cases, the keg may even burst.
The kegs are sturdy, but they could leak if they freeze or they are punctured. If your keg is leaking upon arrival, please follow the troubleshooting process. Please include your order number and a picture of the keg when contacting us, so we can help you as fast as possible.
If your beer is foamy, there could be a few culprits. Foam is usually caused by beer which has not been cooled long enough. Make sure that your keg is pre-chilled - at least 16 hours in the fridge. Some other things to try include:
• Checking if the keg is installed properly
• Checking if the keg is locked
• Ensuring the perfect pour
