How to change a BLADE keg

Six easy steps!

Whether it’s after a few weeks, a couple of days or the half-time whistle, the time will come when you’ll need to change a BLADE keg. Follow this simple step by step guide, or watch the video below, to get the beers flowing again in no time.

How to turn on and off the BLADE beer machine

1. Unlock & remove the keg

First things first, make sure the BLADE keg is empty. The indicator on your BLADE beer machine will let you know when it’s ready for a top up. Flick the lock switch up and make sure the red indicator light stops blinking and is turned off.

Take off the dome and flip open the tap lid. Then, pull out the spout and beer tube and lift out the keg.

2. Prepare your new BLADE keg

For the best draught beer experience, ensure your BLADE keg is pre-cooled for at least 16 to 24 hours before use. When chilled, unwind the beer tube completely from the neck of the cap.

Press the orange button on the keg until you hear a ‘click’.

3. Insert the keg

Open the tap cover and carefully guide the keg into the cooling bowl, keeping it vertical. Make sure the beer tube is at the front and facing the machine. Gently twist the keg to ensure it is securely seated.

Align the beer tube with the orange groove and firmly press the lower black valve into the metallic valve holder to secure it. Flip the tap cover upwards until it locks in place. If it doesn’t stay up, check the tube and valve positioning. Remove the red cap once secured.

4. Put the dome back on

Place the dome back on your BLADE machine. This helps maintain the perfect temperature and allows the machine’s light feature to activate. Switch on the lightbulb icon to illuminate your machine.
